Volume XIX - Number 4

Suggestions for Worship

  1. COME. Never miss a worship service unless it is absolutely necessary. Of George Washington it was once said: "No company ever kept him away from church."
  2. COME EARLY. Rushing into the assembly at the last minute is not conductive to worship ... neither for you nor the other worshipers.
  3. BRING THE ENTIRE FAMILY. The worship hour is not a convention to which you may simply send a family delegate.
  4. BE SEATED CLOSE TO THE FRONT OF THE AUDITORIUM. Leave the back seats for those who may arrive late and for mothers with small children.
  5. BE REVERENT. The meeting house is not a theater of place of amusement. You have come to worship God, not to laugh, whisper and visit. The worship service deserves our utmost reverence.
  6. BE CONSIDERATE. Don't make a haystack of yourself at the end of the row and expect others to crawl over you to reach a seat.
  7. PARTICIPATE. Join in the worship service. Be a good listener during the sermon. Be sure to sing. Don't just sit as a spectator.
  8. BE THOUGHTFUL OF VISITORS. They are our special guests. Treat them with the same courtesy as you would if they should visit in your home.
  9. CONTRIBUTE GENEROUSLY. God loves a cheerful giver. Freely ye have received; freely give. Remember YOUR OFFERING IS TO GOD.
  10. LINGER. Never rush for the door after the closing prayer as if the building were on fire. Speak to others, be friendly.
  11. BE PRESENT. Don't stay away from services because you see imperfections in the church. How utterly lonely you would feel in a perfect church.

Worship Is a Family

Selected

Our hearts go out in deepest sympathy to the DeBord family in the passing of Marilee's brother, Tony Price, in Hixson, TN -- and to the Dupree family in the passing of Charley's brother (no further info was available). It is our prayer that God provide the peace and comfort needed to get through these times of loss and sorrow.

Take Note!!
Make note of these things :

Area Wide Fellowship
Also sign-up if you plan to attend the Area-Wide Fellowship next Saturday (29th) at the Central congregation in Haines City. They need to know approximately how many plan to attend in order to make proper preparations.

Ladies' Work Group
Thirteen were in attendance at the Devotional on Monday the 10th. Several visits were make and food was carried to shut-ins. (Next scheduled devotional/ luncheon is Monday, February 14th). The ladies work group will meet this Monday (24th) at 7 PM in the annex. Ladies are asked to bring all completed baby items and their quilt squares. There are a number of things that need to be done (bag/label baby items, luv bears, cutting pattern pieces, etc.) Please plan to attend and lend a helping hand. (If you can't make it to the building, there are a number of projects that you can do at home....just check with one of the ladies).

"Then shalt thou understand right-eousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path." (Proverbs 2:9)
The world searches for this ability, it is sad indeed that only a few will choose to look to the law book of life "the Bible".
