Volume XXI - Number 34

Blame the Guns
Dan Carter

So much has been said in reference to the shootings that have occurred over the past few years, especially in our schools.

Many blame the guns. We must blame something. While the educators examine various reasons that such occur, think with me for a few moments.

• A few years ago an avowed atheist was able to get prayer and Bible study removed from our schoolrooms. Of course, the Bible says: "Thou shalt not kill."

• A few years ago we said "yes" to killing innocent babies by abortion.

• A few years ago we told teachers that they could no longer discipline our children as in days gone by.

• A few years ago we decided to start handing out contraceptives to our boys and girls, because boys will be boys and girls will be girls.

• A few years ago Dr. Spock told us that it was not right to discipline little Johnny because it might warp his personality.

To all of these things above, our society has voted YES! But, when we have a problem, we must blame it on everything, or anything, else. Yes, guns have been one means of killing people but, the trigger must be pulled by a human being.

It is a tragic thing when these terrible things happen in society but where do we place the blame? We have heard GOD blamed. Some folks say that God should not have allowed those school shootings! But what can God do, He has been booted out of most of our schools!

Adam blamed Eve. Eve blamed the serpent. Cain said: "I am not my brother's keeper."

Folks we had better open our eyes to the real blame. It is just pure and simple. Man attempts to walk without God! This has always been the problem and we cannot blame it on everything else. It's our problem. We have to fix it. The only way to fix the problem is to go back to the source.
