Volume XXII - Number 8

What Will Your Checkbook
Tell About You?

By G.K. Wallace

Some time ago I read about a man who has written many biographies. He noted that it was easy to find out what a man said and what he had done, but when it came to finding out what kind of man he really was, the biographer was up a stump. Then he discovered that the surest way to get the truth was to look at the stubs of old check books. What a man gives his money for— that tells the tale.

Why not stop before you read any further and get out your check book for the past year? What does it say about you? It might say:

1. "This man cares more about entertainment–football, hunting, fishing, golf, tennis and movies than he does the Lord.”

2. "This man cares more about his personal appearance– clothes, grooming, haircuts, etc.; than he does the church.”

3. "This man cares more about civic interests–clubs, community projects and the Red Cross than he does about the lost."

4. "This man cares more about vacations and traveling (Just look at those gas bills) than he does about the expansion of the Kingdom of God."

5. "This man cares more about temporal security–bonds, stocks and investments than he does about treasures in heaven."

Would you be ashamed if suddenly your checkbook began to blab the truth about you to all your friends and neighbors?

Ladies’ Ghana Fund
ghana.gifLadies, we have received "raves" from Brother Wheeler for our decision to help with the support of Brother Martin Oppong who will be working in the Eastern Region near Brother AdJei. Ted says that they have been praying that the support would come and so our funds are an answer to their prayers. I believe we have made a good decision and the money ($1200.00) will be going over within the week. Let us pray now for Brother Oppong and is family that they will be able to do much good for the Lord in their area. Our Fund is now low (around $400) and we win need to work hard to build it up to have a goodly amount to send with Brother Bauer when he goes over to Ghana probably in July. "Let us not be weary in well-doing" (Galatians 6:9), but keep on keeping on.
Shirley Faneuf

ATTENTION: A box is currently placed in the Bible Lab to be filled with boxes of crayons, colored pencils, stickers, etc., for Brother Bauer to take with him when he goes to Ghana. He says the students over there can be supplied with paper and pencils but there are no "frills" as mentioned above. Young people will you help out with this project? Just think, the money you would spend for a cola and a bag of chips could be used to give a Ghanaian student the luxury of a box of crayons! 

Time is the great equalizer. The same amount is given to the great as to the small – to the young as to the old. The difference lies in the way time is used.
You had 86,400 seconds today, did you use them wisely?
