“Gospel Meeting Whys
Stephen Smith

A lmost without exception as a gospel meeting approaches far to many will ask at least two questions.

Why have gospel meetings?

 Good news of Jesus the Christ is presented
 Singing songs of praise is accomplished.
 Prayers to God are offered.
       Fellowship is encouraged.

Why should I attend every service of the meeting?

 To obey Gods command NOT to forsake the assembly.
 To edify others with our presence.
 To encourage the preaching of the Gospel.
 To grow in wisdom and knowledge of God and His word.
 To show family and friends our commitment.

But to my mind and the mind of every elder, preacher, teacher and member of the body of Christ the real question is this. Why wouldn’t every Christian want to attend every service of our Gospel meeting? ❦

We are also grieved to report the passing of sister Lillian Chambers on Friday, September 13th at IHS in Auburndale, after a brief illness. Lillian had been a member of the Orange Street church of Christ for well over fifty years. The viewing for sister Chambers is today (15th) from 3-5pm and Funeral services are planned for 10am Monday morning at Kersey’s Funeral Home in Auburndale.

We do not know what particular trials tomorrow will bring, but if we love the Lord we can be certain of victory over them all.
