Volume XXI - Number 10

No doubt you have noticed, since the government redesigned our paper money, that many cashiers have been swiping a mark across these bills with a special pen. They are testing for counterfeit bills. If the mark stays clear, it is real, but if the mark turns black, it is counterfeit.

When it comes to God's truth, both Paul and John admonished us to put all religious doctrine to the test. "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good" (1 Thessalonians 5:21). "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1).

There is so much confusion in the world. these days. Most religions that call themselves Christian, are so different from another. How do we know what is the genuine religion of God for us today? The simple answer is, put it to the test. Lay the New Testament side by side with the doctrine at hand, and see if it measures up. When we find the counterfeits, and settle the question for ourselves, we need to warn others about them. It is the right thing to do.

It is unfortunate that we must call attention to error, but precious souls are in danger if we fail to do so. Be warned! Be informed! The counterfeits are out there. Read carefully Acts 20:29-31; 1 Tim. 4:1-4; 2 Tim. 4:2-4; 2 Peter 3:17; 1 John 4:6.
