Volume XXIII - Number 42

The Importance of Our Gospel Meeting

With the beginning of our gospel meeting only a week away, please give serious consideration to the importance of what will occur during the preaching portion of it.

The Scriptures Will Be Examined - "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11). "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15). How important is this?

The Son Of God Will Be Exalted - "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified" (I Corinthians 2:2). "Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them" (Acts 8:5). How important is this?

Satan Will Be Encountered - "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7). "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). How important is this?

Sin Will Be Exposed - "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear" (Isaiah 5 9 : 2). "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil" (I Peter 3:12). "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them" (Ephesians 5:11). How important is this?

Salvation Will Be Explained - "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" (I Timothy 2:4). "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world" (Titus 2:11,12). How important is this?

Sinners Will Be Exhorted - "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19). "This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart" (Ephesians 4:17,18). How important is this?

Saints Will Be Edified - "And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified" (Acts- 20:32). "And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent: May ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness. which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God" (Philippians 1:9-11). How important is this?

Welcome
We will be honored this evening to have Barima Sarpong Kumankuma II, Chief of Adankrono, Ghana worshiping with us. The Chief is a member of the church in Ghana and will be our guest at a finger-food fellowship after the evening services. Make him feel welcome.

I have never known a generous person to complain about how much money it takes to run a church. Poor givers complain about how much it takes. Generous givers express concern that they don't give more.
