Keep
on Plodding!
Author unknown
There is a lot of spiritual truth
in the old fable of "The
Tortoise and the Hare." In the long run it is not ability,
energy, or excitement that accomplishes most in the Kingdom
of heaven, it is patient steadfast, day-in-day-out faithfulness
- the determination to keep plodding on! Many in the church
are looking for high-voltage excitement as they leap from one
spiritual high to another. But the real test of discipleship
is not whether we can serve God when the crowds are cheering
and the flags are waving; it is whether we can serve on the
long dusty march in the heat of the day'.
What does it take to keep plodding?
1.) Hold On! (Hebrews 3:6,14) With bulldog-like determination,
we must hold on to certain things: the truth of the Bible,
our profession of faith, our commitment to the Lord, and the
hope we have in Christ
2.) Press On! (Philippians 3:13-14) We must keep striving to
move forward in our service to Jesus. We cannot grow by leaps
and bounds, we can grow by Inches.
3.) Keep On! (Galatians 6:9) Success in the service of God
is a matter of refusing to quit. Asked for the secret of
his success, world champion boxer James L. Sullivan said: “Fight
one more round!” That's it! Keep going! Never quit!
Victory awaits those who keep plodding on!
 The Two Wolves
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle
that was going on inside himself.
He said, "My son, the battle
is between two wolves.
One is evil: anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance,
self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride,
superiority and ego...
The other is good: joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility,
kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion
and faith.
The grandson thought about it for
a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf
wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The
one I feed."
