Negative Thinking Never Triumphs
Glenn Randolph
Negative thinking can spread like a plague. Most people are adept at pointing out the problems. It takes insightful people to come up with solutions. Any dead fish can float down stream.
I knew a fellow once who was a "trouble shooter" for this big company. Guess what? He stayed busy all the time. But, there's no big revelation to that fact, because trouble just seems to have a way of happening. Have you ever noticed that?
The church is no different. If you are looking for all the problems, you can certainly find them. Why? Because there is a human side to God's divinely inspired church. It doesn't take a Solomon to point out the problems. . . but it is ingenious to come up with solutions.
Before you jump to any conclusions, let me beat you to the punch and say I don't have anything in particular in mind when I refer to problems. I am speaking generically. I just want to program all of us to "Look for the good," and not the bad. Look for ways to "improve" rather than to tear down. Instead of criticizing, try to compliment and see how much better you feel and how much more mileage you will get out of the energy it takes you to talk!
Just remember, tough times are temporary — tough people aren't And when you think all hope is gone, it isn't. We serve a God who can raise up another Moses, prepare another Paul, and temper another Timothy.
God's power is not enhanced by prosperity, not handicapped by hardship. He's still the God of the impossible (Mark 9:23). ❦
Take One Day At A Time
Author Unknown
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry. Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is "yesterday," with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, and its aches and pains, and sometimes sorrow. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back "yesterday." We cannot undo a single act we performed, nor can we erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.
The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow. Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. If the Lord wills, tomorrow's sun will rise, whether in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow.
This leaves only one day - "Today." Anyone can fight the battles of just one day. It is when you and I add burdens of those two awful eternities... Yesterday and tomorrow... That we break down.
Let us therefore live one day at a time. "Behold now is the accepted time, behold today is the day of salvation."
