Volume XXVI - Number 2

Take One Day At A Time
Author Unknown

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry. Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is "yesterday," with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, and its aches and pains, and sometimes sorrow. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.

All the money in the world cannot bring back "yesterday." We cannot undo a single act we performed, nor can we erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow. Tomorrow is beyond our immediate control. If the Lord wills, tomorrow's sun will rise, whether in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow.

This leaves only one day - "Today." Anyone can fight the battles of just one day. It is when you and I add burdens of those two awful eternities...Yesterday and tomorrow... That we break down.

Let us therefore live one day at a time. "Behold now is the accepted time, behold today is the day of salvation."

New Personal Work Program
Anyone interested in personal work, please plan on attending a kickoff meeting after services Sunday evening on January 20th (NEXT Sunday). This is the kickoff for a brand new program and we invite anyone who would like to hear about it to attend. There will be plenty of things that everyone can do from mailing cards to making visits or doing errands for those who need help. We will be serving a light meal following the meeting.

"For the kingdom of God does not mean food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy ion the Holy Spirit" (Rom 14:17). Christian "joy" does not come from earthly trinkets, nor from cheap triumphs in rivalry over others. Rather, it has its basis in God. It cannot be called a duty. It is simply the result of communion with God.
