| REMEMBERING
THE COST
05-25-2001
It was calculated
once by those who do such things, that the average life span of a GI landing
on Normandy beach was at the most minutes. When, then president, Jimmy
Carter visited the cemetery at Normandy and looked out over the acres
and acres of white crosses, he was brought to tears. The cost of freedom
is high. It is paid with the blood of our nations finest.
The cost
of spiritual freedom is dear also. The price was the shed blood of Gods
only begotten Son. Christians all over the world remember this sacrifice
when partaking of the Lords Supper. The finest God had to offer,
His Son, was given that mankind might be saved.
This Monday,
when you are enjoying your BBQ or day at the beach, take a moment and
whisper a thank you to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our
freedom. Also, say a prayer for their families. But more importantly,
go to worship this Sunday and whisper a thank you to God for sending His
Son.
"Greater
love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."
(John 15:13 NKJV)
