"Babies" Killing Their Babies

The results of a recently published survey reported that 1 out of 5 teenagers have had sexual relations before their fifteenth birthday. As startling as these figures are, even more startling is that this sexual activity results in 20,000 pregnancies each year and 8,000 births. 8,000 babies being born to "babies" themselves. However, what caught my eye, as alarming as these figures are, is not the number of babies born, but the difference between the number of pregnancies and births. There are 12,000 babies unaccounted for. Surely, some pregnancies most likely ended in miscarriages. Some babies may have been stillborn. But be assured, most of those 12000 babies were aborted.

Last year, along with these 12000 babies, 1,316,000 other babies were killed while in their safety of their mother’s wombs. Why were they killed? For some, their mothers wanted to postpone having children. For others, they were killed because their birth would disrupt their mother’s education or career. Some died, because their father did not want the responsibility of fatherhood and convinced their mother to abort them. Still others died because they would be an economic liability.

In Proverb 6:16-19, we read, "These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16-19 NKJV)". One of the things which God hates and is a abomination to Him is the shedding of innocent blood. That child which is in its mother’s womb is alive from the moment of conception. If it was dead it would not continue to develop. Not only is it alive, it is human. This fact goes all the way back to creation for its proof. Each plant, animal, bird, or fish is to reproduce "after its own kind." The union of a man and a woman will not result in a dog, cat, monkey, or fern. The life growing within that mother is human or more properly a human child. Is it morally wrong to take an innocent human life? Proverbs 6:16-19 says that it is an abomination to God.

Sexual promiscuity is rampant in our society. The reasons for such behavior are innumerable, but the solution is not. The solution is simple: Jesus Christ. Following the path of Christ will lead young people away from immoral behavior and relieve them of making the choice to shed the innocent blood of their own babies.
